- Oral feeding must not be started for 4-6 hours after the operation with general anesthesia.
- If you have a tampon in your nose after the surgery, you may need to breathe through the mouth for a while.
- Occasionally blood leakage the nasal passage or the nostrils into the mouth is normal. Also, you may feel a little pain but not severe, you can use the analgesics prescribed by your doctor. A loss of sensation may occur in the anterior upper teeth and the palate, it will return to normal.
- It is recommended to eat warm and liquid foods after the first day of anesthesia, but subsequently no food restriction is applied.
- You may need to use antibiotics according to your doctor’s preference.
- It is recommended to sleep in supine position and with high pillows to elevate the head.
- There may scabs in the nose related to leakages and operation. Your doctor recommend you nasal wash solutions (saline or ocean water). Please don’ t try to remove them manually, you can cause an infection. During the healing process, it is not recommended to stay in a dry environment and if possible, you should use cold steam humidifier to moisten your room.
- During the first days of operation nasal obstruction may occur, this problem will be overcome with washing nasal passage and with nasal spray if your doctor recommend.
- You should not blow for about 10 days; this may cause bleeding. If you need to sneeze, you should keep your mouth open to prevent bleeding and the formation of excessive pressure in the nose. If you sneeze continuously, you may be recommended allergic drugs. You must protect yourself from trauma to the nose, and also you should avoid heavy exercises during the first 4 weeks.
- There is no restriction in bathing, but warm bath must be done, hot bath can trigger nasal bleeding.
- Using glasses is not forbidden.
